Guest bedroom makeover

A client reached out to me about the second bedroom in her house. She finally had enough of it being a “anything you don’t want to throw away” room. She wants to make it a space that would accommodate real guests and not just a life size cardboard cutout of Ralphie from ‘A Christmas Story’.

Oh, Hi Ralphie!

The client enjoys many different design styles, but finds it difficult to determine what style she wants for the room. After much discussion the client decides she really likes the victorian style, but doesn’t want it to be too feminine. She wants to add some touches of an Industrial style into the project.

The first step is to clean and empty out the room. From there we can start fresh. We decided all new furniture is needed and we agree upon a budget. We then create a mood board to give her an idea of the direction we are headed. We were also able to provide her with a layout of what the room will become.

Once the client approves the mood board we move ahead with the project. The first step is to lighten the room. The easiest way to do this is with a can of paint. We then use new and existing furniture and decor pieces to pull the room together.

In the end we stayed within budget, the customer was happy and the room can now accommodate Peter Billingsley himself and not just his cardboard cutout.
